Take a moment to check out our photos from an upcoming episode of bikeTV in which we go for a ride with George Hincapie (pro cyclist from NYC).
An article by Jennifer Needleman in The Brooklyn Daily Eagle & Daily Bulletin, covers bikeTV and Transportation Alternatives. Here is an excerpt:
"Bike advocacy, however, is just part of the pie. "We like to emphasize the fun in cycling." said Clarence. "We cover bike trips, tours, rides... if it's got a bicycle in it, it's game." Each BikeTV segment is made up of four or five separate parts, mostly relating but definitely not limited to NYC. "It's not like there's two talking heads going on about biking, it's more like 20/20.'' It is a bike variety show of sorts, and much of the material is refreshingly lighthearted. "
BikeTV's "Bike Summer NYC 2003" promo was shown at the Anthology Film Archives before all screenings during the 3rd Annual Bicycle Film Festival from May 7 - 11. The piece was edited and produced by Clarence Eckerson.
In May 2003, Mike Gaughan's piece "WORK BIKES" was a Finalist and won a Bronze TELLY Award in the Cable or Television Program/News Feature Category.
In January 2002, "THE HISTORY OF THE BICYCLE" -- produced, written, directed and shot by Michael P. Gaughan, and edited by N'Quavah Owusu, won a Communicator Award in the Cable News / Feature Story Category for 2001. The Communicator Awards receives thousands of entries, many from the likes of ABC News and CNN. BikeTV is proud to be among such distinguished company.
